Downlink ports

Ethernet internal downlinks to compute module Converged Network Adapters (CNA).
  • Support for HPE Synergy 10Gb/20Gb CNA mezzanines.

  • Each downlink supports one Ethernet to the adapter.

  • CNA can be configured to transport Fiber Channel over Ethernet/CEE.

Interconnect link ports

CXP port connectors to the HPE Synergy 10Gb or 20Gb Interconnect Link Modules.

Supports Active Optical Cables (AOC) and Direct Attach Copper (DAC) cables.

Uplink port connectors

Connectors for external uplink to Local Area Networks (LAN). Connectors that can be used as stacking ports to another HPE Synergy 40Gb F8 Switch Module or as additional 40Gb non-Flex uplinks to LAN.
  • Supports the following:

    • 40Gb QSFP+ SR4 100m, SR4 300m, and LR4 transceivers

    • 40Gb QSFP+ Bidirectional transceiver

    • 4x10Gb QSFP+ transceivers

    • Dual 10GBASE-T QSFP+ RJ45 transceivers

    • 40Gb QSFP+ AOC and DAC cables

    • 40Gb QSFP+ to 4x10Gb SFP+ DAC splitter cables

  • With QSFP+ to SFP+ Adapter, supports the following:
    • 10Gb SFP+ SR, LR, and ER transceivers

    • 10GBase-T SFP+ transceivers

    • 1Gb SR and 1000Base-T SFP transceivers

    • 10Gb SFP+ AOC and DAC cables

  • QSFP+ transceivers support MPO-to-MPO and MPO-to-4xLC fiber optic cables.

  • SFP+ transceivers support LC-to-LC OM3 and OM4 fiber optic cables.

  • QSFP+ uplinks configurable as 1x40Gb or 4x10Gb Ethernet ports.

HPE Synergy 40Gb F8 Switch Module does not provide native Fibre Channel uplink ports.

The switch module supports a Data Center Bridging (DCB/CEE) standard, which allows to transfer FCoE traffic.
