NOTE:
One HPE Synergy 8Gb FC Upgrade LTU (PN N3R43A) per interconnect module is required to use native FC ports on HPE VC SE 40Gb F8 Module with the following:

  • 40 GbE/4 x 10 GbE/4 x 8 Gb FC QSFP+ transceivers

  • 8 Gb FC SFP+ transceivers

HPE Flat SAN technology (storage Direct Attach to the VC module) is supported with all HPE 3PAR StoreServ Storage arrays. It requires a minimum of the following:

  • HPE OneView 3.1 or later

  • VC SE 40Gb F8 Module firmware v.1.1.1.1003 or later

Downlink ports

12 x 10 Gb/20 Gb Ethernet internal downlinks to compute module Converged Network Adapters (CNA).

  • Support for HPE Synergy 10Gb/20Gb CNA mezzanines.

  • Each downlink supports up to 3 FlexNICs and 1 FlexHBA or 4 FlexNICs.

  • The compute module recognizes each FlexNIC and FlexHBA as a PCIe “Physical Function” device with adjustable speeds as one of the following:

    • On a 10 Gb CNA — From 100 Mb to 10 Gb in 100 Mb increments

    • On a 20 Gb CNA — From 100 Mb to 20 Gb in 100 Mb increments

  • Each FlexHBA can be configured to transport either Fiber Channel over Ethernet/CEE or Accelerated iSCSI protocol.

Interconnect link ports

4 x 120 Gb CXP port connectors to the HPE Synergy 10 Gb or 20 Gb Interconnect Link Modules.

Supports Active Optical Cables (AOC) and Direct Attach Copper (DAC) cables.

Uplink port connectors

6 x QSFP+ connectors are available for external uplink to Local Area Networks or/and SAN. 2 x QSFP+ connectors are available for use as stacking ports to another HPE Virtual Connect SE 40Gb F8 Module.

  • Supports the following:

    • 40 Gb QSFP+ SR4 100 m, SR4 300 m, and LR4 transceivers

    • 40 Gb QSFP+ Bidirectional transceivers

    • 40 GbE/4 x 10 GbE/4 x 8 Gb FC QSFP+ transceivers

    • Dual 10GBASE-T QSFP+ RJ45 transceivers

    • 40 Gb QSFP+ AOC and DAC cables

    • 40 Gb QSFP+ to 4 x 10Gb SFP+ DAC Splitter cables

  • With QSFP+ to SFP+ Adapter, supports the following:

    • 10 Gb SFP+ SR, 10Gb SFP+ LR, 10GBase-T SFP+ transceivers

    • 8 Gb FC SFP+ transceivers

    • 10 Gb SFP+ AOC and DAC cables

    • 1 Gb SR and 1000Base-T SFP transceivers

  • QSFP+ transceivers support the following:

    • MPO-to-MPO Fiber Optic cables

    • MPO-to-4xLC Fiber Optic cables

  • SFP+ transceivers support the following:

    • LC-to-LC OM4 Fiber Optic cables

    • LC-to-LC OM3 Fiber Optic cables
