Downlink ports

  • Twelve 16Gb FC internal downlinks to compute module Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters (HBA).

  • Support for HPE Synergy 16G FC HBA Mezzanine.

  • Universal self-configuring ports, which can become F_Ports (fabric enabled) or N_Ports.

Uplink port connectors

  • Four QSFP+ and eight SFP+ External uplink connectors to Fibre Channel SAN.

  • QSFP+ and SFP+ uplink ports are 4/8/16Gb/s auto-sensing.

  • Supports 4x16 QSFP+ Short Wave (SW) and/or the following:

  • FC Ports can be configured as any of the following:

    • E_Port (switch mode)

    • F_Port (Access Gateway mode)

    • D_Port (Diagnostic Port)

  • N_Port ID Virtualization (NPIV) HBA Aggregation is supported in Access Gateway mode.

Notes

The Brocade 16Gb FC Switch Module for HPE Synergy can support up to 48 FC ports. The 48 FC ports include up to 24 uplink 16Gb FC ports and up to 24 downlink 16Gb FC ports. However, with Dual Port 16Gb FC HBA Mezzanine cards, only a maximum of 12 downlinks are currently supported. This allows each Brocade 16Gb Fibre Channel SAN Switch Module for HPE Synergy to support a maximum of 36 FC ports.

The Brocade 16Gb Fibre Channel SAN Switch Module 12-port Upgrade LTU (PN D4U69AAE) provides up to 12 additional usable ports. This LTU adds usable ports in increments of 12: from 12 to 24, and from 24 to 36.

Any internal/external port combination is enabled.
