Notification Settings
Notifications are standard messages that are sent to mobile devices connected to the Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal when an alert is triggered by the system. The notification mechanism updates administrators about any alerts that are triggered on site.
When you click a notification, your registered device automatically opens the Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal app and takes you to the corresponding management interface for the Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal site. The stored user credentials are validated against the management interface. Upon successful login, you are directed to the page corresponding to the selected notification. If no action is taken on the alert, the notification remains in the notification bar and can still be viewed at anytime until it is cleared.
To enable notifications for alerts, follow these steps:
1. Go to the page in the Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal application.
In the Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal web application, select from the advanced drop-down menu on the Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal header. The page opens. From the page, click to open the page.
In the Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal mobile app, tap the advanced menu () icon, and then select to open the screen. From the screen, tap to open the screen.
2. There are 2 types of alert notifications. By default, the are enabled and the notifications are disabled. Ensure that the respective toggle switch is set to enabled () for the App notifications and Email, if you wish to receive both notification types.
—The mobile app sends a notification regarding the alert triggered by the system based on the notification settings in the registered device.
—An email notification regarding the alert is sent to the registered email account of the user.
3. Click the notification toggle switch(es) to enable () or disable () the alerts you want to be notified about. This applies to both App and Email notifications.
By default, notifications for all four alert types are enabled.
The Operating System (OS) of each registered device determines how the notification messages are displayed. The following table lists the notification messages and their corresponding alert types:
Notification Message |
Corresponding Alert |
---|---|
Connection problem |
Cannot access Internet |
Device problem |
<device> has problem <device> unauthorized <device> is down |
Overload |
Network overload Device overload |
New software available |
New software available |
By default, a simple notification is displayed on 2 distinct lines:
The first line displays the name of the alert.
The second line displays the site name.
When the system triggers multiple alerts from the same site, the notification mechanism collapses all the notifications generated from the alerts. The notification mechanism displays it as a single notification on the registered device.
