* RECOMMENDED * Firmware Flash Component for Windows - HP MSA 1040/2040, P2000 G3 and MSA2000 G2 2TB,1TB 6G SAS 7.2K rpm LFF Hard Drive (ST2000NM0001, ST1000NM0001)
By downloading, you agree to the terms and conditions of the Hewlett Packard Enterprise Software License Agreement.
Note:
Some software requires a valid warranty, current Hewlett Packard Enterprise support contract, or a license fee.
This Windows Smart Component contains a firmware update for the LFF hard drive models ST1000NM0001(1TB 7.2K SAS 6G), ST2000NM0001(2TB 7.2K SAS 6G) in HP MSA 1040/2040, P2000 G3 and MSA2000 G2 Storage Arrays.
In this version the Smart Component was updated to support MSA 1040 arrays.
Following enhancements were added in 0002 :
-
Improvement for performance at low levels of RV in cabinets (RV below 5 rad/s2).
-
Increase ramp load routine A2D sample magnitude to insure a full release at low temperatures from the head/suspension assembly protective mechanical latch (2TB only).
Prerequisites:
CAUTION: Updating the firmware of disk drives in a virtual disk risks the loss of data and causes the drives to be temporarily inaccessible.
IMPORTANT: Ensure that no other user is performing administrative functions on the MSA 1040/2040, P2000 G3 and MSA2000 G2 Storage Arrays.
NOTE:Disk drive upgrades on the HP MSA 1040/2040, P2000 G3 and MSA2000 G2 is an offline process. All host and array I/O must be stopped prior to the upgrade. For more information, see the HP Modular Storage Array 2000 Family reference guide. All firmware flash progress messages are logged to %systemdrive%\CPQSYSTEM\Log\MSA2000_IP.log and flashing summary is logged to %systemdrive%\CPQSYSTEM\Log\cpqsetup.log.
IMPORTANT: Please refer to the Failure Considerations under release notes for special considerations regarding the pre-install conditions for flashing hard drives in HP MSA 1040/2040, P2000 G3 and MSA2000 G2 Storage Arrays.

Notes:
Failure Considerations:
-
Single ported drive will not be flashed if the owner controller of that drive is not accessible through network.
-
Flash operation on any pending disks will be aborted if the currently flashed drive is in LEFTOVR state containing this disk is found to be in offline or critical state. If this does occur, the vdisk can be restored to online status by changing the drive status from leftover to available and then adding the drive to the vdisk as a spare. If a global spare drive was available, it will have been used to restore the vdisk to online status.
