The Aruba OfficeConnect Solution requires you to connect your Aruba OfficeConnect access point (AP) to the network.

To provision your network, follow these steps:

1. Connect the Aruba OfficeConnect AP to your network.

2. Verify the LED indicators. If the AP is successfully connected to your provisioning network, the LED indicator turns green.

3. If you want to use the mobile app version, download the Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal app.

4. Launch the Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal application.

The following figure illustrates the provisioning procedure for Aruba OfficeConnect access points:

To revoke your ownership of an Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal site, follow these steps:

In the Web Application

NOTE: This option is only available when a secondary administrator account is configured on the Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal site.

1. Select Settings from the advanced drop-down menu on the Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal header. The Settings page opens.

2. From the Settings page, click Administration to go to the Administration page.

3. Under Your account > Email > For this Portal site only, you can also, click Revoke your ownership. The Revoke Your Ownership page opens.

4. Click Revoke your ownership to remove your account from the Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal site.

After your account is removed, you are logged out of the site and redirected to the Sign out page. A confirmation message is displayed, stating that your account has been revoked successfully. If you manage other Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal sites, you can click Sign in again to access another site.

In the Mobile App

NOTE: This option is only available when a secondary administrator account is configured on the Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal site.

1. Tap the advanced menu () icon on the Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal home screen.

2. Select Settings to open the Settings screen.

3. From the Settings screen, tap Administration to open the Administration screen.

4. Tap the advanced menu () icon on the Administration screen, and then select Revoke your ownership. The Revoke Your Ownership screen opens.

5. Tap Revoke your ownership to remove your account from the Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal site.

After your account is removed, you are logged out of the site and redirected to the Sign out page. A confirmation message is displayed, stating that your account has been revoked successfully. If you manage other Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal sites, you can click Sign in again to access another site.

Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal allows you to transfer ownership from one administrator account to another. To transfer ownership of an Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal site to another administrator account, follow these steps:

In the Web Application

6. From the Settings page, click Administration to go to the Administration page.

7. Under Your Account > Email > For this Portal site only, you can also, click Transfer your ownership. The Transfer Your Ownership page opens.

8. Enter the new email ID under Email.

9. (Optional) If you are transferring ownership of the site to a brand new administrator account, the New account password field appears. Enter a password for the new account.

10. Click Transfer your ownership to transfer ownership of the site to the new administrator account.

After your account is removed, you are logged out of the site. A confirmation message is displayed, stating that ownership has been transferred successfully.

In the Mobile App

1. Tap the advanced menu () icon on the Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal home screen.

2. Select Settings to open the Settings screen.

3. From the Settings screen, tap Administration to open the Administration screen.

4. Tap the advanced menu () icon on the Administration screen, and then select Transfer your ownership. The Transfer Your Ownership screen opens.

5. Enter the new email ID under Email.

6. (Optional) If you are transferring ownership of the site to a brand new administrator account, the New account password field appears. Enter a password for the new account.

7. Click Transfer your ownership to transfer ownership of the site to the new administrator account.

After your account is removed, you are logged out of the site. A confirmation message is displayed, stating that ownership has been transferred successfully.

To create a Guest Network, follow these steps:

1. In the Networks page, click the arrow () icon to configure a Guest Network.

2. Enter a Network name.

3. Select No Security if you do not wish to secure the network with a password or if you want to redirect users to your Facebook business page before being able to access the network.

4. Select Shared Password if you want the user to enter the secured password to access the network.

5. Turn on the Wi-Fi broadcast network to connect to the newly created guest network.

To modify the name of the main network in the Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal mobile app, follow these steps:

1. Tap Networks on the Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal home screen. The Networks screen opens.

2. Select the main network from the Networks list. The Main Network Details screen opens.

3. Enter a new name under Network name. A warning message appears, indicating that changes to the network settings will disconnect all clients currently accessing the network.

4. Tap APPLY CHANGES to save the new name.

To configure Facebook Wi-Fi service on the Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal mobile app or web application, follow these steps:

In the Mobile App

1. Click Networks from the Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal home page.

2. Select the active Guest Network connections.

3. Under Secured Using, select the No Security tab.

4. Click the information () icon to Use Facebook Wi-Fi. A pop-up box will appear on the screen requesting you to switch to the web application to configure Facebook Wi-Fi.

In the Web Application

1. Click Networks from the Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal home page.

2. Select one of the active Guest Network connections.

3. Under the Identification page, ensure that the No Security tab is selected for security.

4. Click the Facebook Wi-Fi toggle switch to turn it on ().

NOTE: The Facebook Wi-Fi setting will appear on the screen only when the No Security option is selected.

5. Some additional configuration is required when the Facebook Wi-Fi option is enabled for the first time. A pop-up box will appear on the page.

6. Click Configure. The Facebook Wi-Fi ID is generated and stored in the Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal site.

7. A new browser window opens up with a page for the Facebook Wi-Fi configuration.

To create a network access schedule, follow these steps:

1. Select a guest network from the Networks list. The Network Details screen is displayed.

2. Click Add a network access schedule. The Network Schedule page opens.

3. Click the toggle switch to enable the network schedule.

4. Under Days of the week, select the day(s) during which the network will be active.

5. Under Active hours during the day, select one of the following options to set a time range during which the network will be active:

Web content not appropriate for the workplace? Or online gaming and video streaming taking up too much bandwidth? Control the types of applications and websites that can be accessed on your network through the Applications Details page or Network Details page in the Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal application.

Applications Details Page

To restrict or allow certain types of applications and websites on your network, follow these steps:

1. Click Applications on the Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal home page. The Applications page opens.

2. Select an application category from the Applications list. The Applications Details page for the selected application category opens.

3. Under Restrict this application for, click the network toggle switch(es) to restrict or allow application access for the selected network(s).

When the network toggle switch is turned off (), the application category is restricted on the network.

When the network toggle switch is turned on (), the application category is allowed on the network.

Network Details Page

To restrict or allow certain types of applications and websites on your network, follow these steps:

1. Click Networks on the Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal home page. The Networks page opens.

2. Select a network from the Networks list. The Main Network Details page or Guest Network Details page opens.

In the Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal web application, click the Applications tab.

In the Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal mobile app, click Add or modify application restrictions. The Restrict Applications page opens.

3. Click the application category toggle switch(es) to restrict or allow access to the selected application(s) ().

When the application category toggle switch is turned off (), the application category is restricted on the network.

When the application category toggle switch is turned on (), the application category is allowed on the network.

The Client Details page provides additional information about the clients in your network.

To view the Client Details page for a specific client, follow these steps:

1. Click Clients on the Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal home page. The Clients page opens.

2. Select a client from the Clients list. The Client Details page for the selected client opens.

See Viewing Application Information for a Specific Client for more details on the information that is available on the Client Details page.

You can view the application usage information for a specific client in your network by selecting a client from the Clients list. See Analyzing Application Usage for details on the type of application usage information that is displayed.

In the Web Application

To view application information for a specific client in the Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal web application, follow these steps:

1. Click Clients on the Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal home page. The Clients page opens.

2. Select a client from the Clients list to open the Client Details page. The Applications chart for the selected client is displayed directly on the Client Details page.

In the Mobile App

To view application information for a specific client in the Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal mobile app, follow these steps:

1. Tap Clients on the Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal home screen. The Clients screen opens.

2. Select a client from the Clients list to open the Client Details screen.

3. Tap the donut chart preceding Transferred to open the Applications chart for the selected client.

When an AP is deployed into the network, it joins an Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal site, which is a group of APs that are configured and managed from a single location. Upon joining the site, the AP automatically syncs its Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal software image with the software image version configured on the site. Each time the software image is updated on the site, all APs in the site are upgraded to the new software image version.

Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal sites perform automatic image checks on the Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal image server every day at midnight (local time). If a new version of the software image is detected on the image server, the Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal automatically downloads and saves the software image to your system so that it is readily available whenever you decide to upgrade your firmware. When a new firmware is available, an Update Available notification appears on the Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal home page and the Alerts page. If your network loses connectivity and fails to perform an image check, the site will resume its daily image checks after the network comes back up.

Before you begin, make sure the New Software is Available alert is enabled on your device so that you are always notified when a new version of the Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal software image is available.

To update to the latest version of the Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal software image, follow these steps:

1. Open the Update Available notification from the Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal home page or the Alerts page. The New Software is Available alert details page opens.

To enable or disable alerts for registered mobile devices, follow these steps :

1. Click the Alert () icon in the title bar of the Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal home page.

2. Click the More icon located at the extreme right of the Alert title bar. The four available alert types are displayed and enabled by default.

3. Move the slider to the left if you wish to disable an alert or move the slider to the right against the alert you wish to enable.

The Alert () icon appears on the title bar of the mobile app or web application when there is a pending alert. The number of alerts in the system is displayed as a colored badge on top of the alert icon. The color of the badge determines the severity of the alert present in the system. When there are no alerts present in the system or all the alerts have been acknowledged, the Alert icon will not appear in any of the title bars on the app or the application.

To view the Alert history, follow these steps:

1. Click the System Health module on the Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal home page.

2. On the System Health main page, you will see the details of the latest alert. Click the Show alert history. The Alerts page is displayed which lists all the alerts received by the app, including the active alerts and the ones that have been cleared.

3. Click the alert you want to acknowledge. The Alert Details page is displayed.

When there are multiple active alerts received by the application, the summary box in the System Health page displays the active alerts with the highest severity in the system along with their color codes. For example: Major active alert takes the highest priority and is displayed in a red summary box.

To acknowledge the alerts, follow these steps:

1. Click the summary box.

2. The Alerts page displays a list of active alerts in descending order of the alert severity and the order by which they should be acknowledged.

3. Click the alert to view the Alert Details page. Follow the recommended actions to clear the alert.

The Extend Network page provides instructions on how to extend your network by adding more devices.

NOTE: In the current architecture, Aruba OfficeConnect OC20 and Aruba OfficeConnect OC30 APs cannot co-exist in the same cluster. They will form separate clusters if they connect to the same network.

To extend your network, follow these steps:

1. Click the Inventory tile on the Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal home page or click System Health > Show Inventory.

2. You can deploy additional Aruba OfficeConnect APs in the same network by any of the following two methods:

a. To ensure optimal performance, connect additional Aruba OfficeConnect APs to the same switch as the first AP, using network cables. Power up the AP using Power over Ethernet (PoE) or the DC power adapter provided with the installation kit.

b. If network cabling is an issue at the site, APs can be connected over-the-air through a wireless network. This option is currently available only for Aruba OfficeConnect OC30 APs. If you choose this option, power on your Aruba OfficeConnect OC30 AP using the power adapter provided with the device and do not connect it with a network cable. For more information, see Extending the Network Over Air .

3. Wait for the LED lights on the additional Aruba OfficeConnect AP(s) to turn solid green.

4. Go to the Extend your network page:

a. In the Mobile App—Click the add () icon in the Inventory screen or tap the advanced menu () icon in the Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal home page and select Add a new device.

b. In the Web Application—Click on the extend network () icon on the title bar of the Inventory page.

5. Select Search for my device. This operation makes the Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal scan for both wired and wireless devices.

6. The AP should show up in the list of devices detected in the network. Select the AP and click Finish.

7. If you need guidance on how to connect to your wired or wireless devices, select How to extend my network? and follow the instructions displayed on the portal screen.

On the Access Point Details Page, a rectangular bar appears below the Access point name when an alert is triggered. The color of the rectangular alert bar will appear according to the alert type. In this case, a major alert has been raised for this device.

Click Show details. You will be directed to the Alert Details page which provides more information about the unusual activity.

NOTE: The Advanced menu does not appear on the title bar when the status is down.

To remove the access point from the inventory, follow these steps:

1. If the Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal device is removed from the network, you can choose to remove the device from the inventory by clicking Remove from Inventory in the Access Point Details page. A pop-up box appears on the screen requesting your confirmation.

2. Click Remove to delete the device from the inventory.

To view the Switch Details, follow these steps:

1. Click System Health > Show Inventory. The Inventory page is displayed.

2. Click on any of the switches listed in the Inventory. The Switch Details page is displayed.

On the Switch Details page, a rectangular bar appears below the Switch when an alert is triggered.

To remove the switch from the inventory, follow these steps:

1. The color of the rectangular alert bar will appear according to the alert type. In this case, a major alert has been raised for this device.

2. Click on Show details. You will be directed to the Alert Details page which provides more information about the unusual activity.

3. If the Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal device is removed from the network, you can choose to remove the device from the inventory by clicking on the Remove from Inventory button in the Troubleshoot section.

4. A pop-up appears on the screen requesting your confirmation. Click Remove to delete the device from the inventory.

To enable notifications for alerts, follow these steps:

1. Go to the Notifications page in the Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal application.

In the Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal web application, select Settings from the advanced drop-down menu on the Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal header. The Settings page opens. From the Settings page, click Notifications to open the Notifications page.

In the Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal mobile app, tap the advanced menu () icon, and then select Settings to open the Settings screen. From the Settings screen, tap Notifications to open the Notifications screen.

2. There are 2 types of alert notifications. By default, the App notifications are enabled and the Email notifications are disabled. Ensure that the respective toggle switch is set to enabled () for the App notifications and Email, if you wish to receive both notification types.

App notifications—The mobile app sends a notification regarding the alert triggered by the system based on the notification settings in the registered device.

Email—An email notification regarding the alert is sent to the registered email account of the user.

3. Click the notification toggle switch(es) to enable () or disable () the alerts you want to be notified about. This applies to both App and Email notifications.

NOTE: By default, notifications for all four alert types are enabled.

The troubleshooting assistant can be invoked from the Alert Details page:

1. Navigate to System Health and click View Alert History.

2. In the Alert Details page, review the Recommended Actions to clear the alert.

3. For additional troubleshooting options, click Need more help?. The Troubleshooting Assistant page is displayed with the following information:

a. Most typical situations based on the LED patterns.

b. Recommended actions.

4. Check the status of the LED lights on the Aruba OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal and click the corresponding solution in the troubleshooting assistant.

5. If you are unable to find a solution to the problem, click Additional support options. You will be directed to external discussion forums and chat support to assist you better.
