Instant clone of VM using Element Recovery Technology (ERT)

Element Recovery Technology (ERT) enables granular recovery of an individual VM or files within a VM from an Express Protect backup on HPE StoreOnce. ERT provides you the ability to access Volume Set objects as READ-only entities from HPE StoreOnce, without repopulating the primary disk array volumes. However, ERT does not support accessing VMware VVols.

Following are the transport protocol requirements for ERT:

  • ESXi host and RMC Appliance, must be over iSCSI.

  • RMC Appliance and HPE StoreOnce can either be FC or IP depending on CoFC ID (Catalyst over Fibre Channel) or Coeth IP (Catalyst over Ethernet).
