Redundancy group node states
A redundancy group determines the state of its nodes by using the following rules:
When the IRF member devices operate correctly, the high-priority node is the primary node. The node priority is configured by using the priority command.
When both nodes have the same priority, the node with a smaller ID is the primary node. The node ID is configured by using the node command.
The node bound to an IRF member device is the primary node if the IRF member device meets one of the following requirements:
It is the only IRF member device.
It is the only operating IRF member device.
Typically, a redundancy group uses the high-priority node to forward traffic. When the high-priority node fails, the redundancy group temporarily switches traffic to the low-priority node.
