Unable to establish a TCP connection

Symptom

A TCP connection cannot be established between the local peer and any remote peer. In the output from the display dlsw remote command, the status is DISCONNECT.

Analysis

TCP connection establishment is the first step in a successful DLSw connection. Failure in establishing a TCP connection is usually caused by problems between the two routers, such as incorrect IP routing configuration.

Solution

Check whether the remote peer is reachable by using the ping command. Alternatively, use the display ip routing-table command to check whether a route to the network segment exists. After both sides have established a correct route, the TCP connection can be created.
