This package contains the utilities and binaries for upgrading HPE Intel Ethernet NICs ROM images running under Linux x86_64 platform.

Prerequisites:

This product requires the appropriate driver for your device and operating system be installed before firmware is updated.

To ensure the integrity of your download, HPE recommends verifying your results with the following SHA-256 Checksum values:

f5c14debb741671473a87ae1926cf5369fb125719feea1a4a4800e5c0ffb65bf firmware-nic-intel-1.14.13-1.1.x86_64.rpm

Reboot Requirement:
Reboot is required after installation for updates to take effect and hardware stability to be maintained.

Installation:

Updating firmware with rpm installed:

  • Install the NIC firmware rpm using the commmand:  rpm -ivh <rpm_filename>.rpm.  This extracts the contents of the rpm to the '/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu' location.

  • The CP032763.scexe script is located in the 'scexe-compat' folder. Further information is available in CP032763.txt file in the 'firmware-nic-*' folder. The actual name of the 'firmware-nic-*' folder is based on the version of the rpm installed in the first step above.

  • To install firmware, you can execute ONE of the following commands:
    • ./CP032763.scexe in the '/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu' location (OR)
    • ./setup in the 'firmware-nic-*' location

  • To uninstall the rpm, run the command: rpm -e <rpm_package_name>

Updating firmware without installing the rpm:

  • Extract the contents of the rpm using the command: rpm2cpio <rpm_filename>.rpm | cpio -id.  This extracts the contents of the rpm to 'usr' folder in the current directory.

  • Navigate to the 'usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/firmware-nic-*' location and run ./hpsetup to update the firmware. The actual name of the 'firmware-nic-*' folder is based on the version of the rpm installed in the step above.

  •

Additional Information:

  • Under certain scenarios, after updating the EPROM you may be required to reboot the system and re-run the component in order to update the flash ROM (OROM) on the adapter(s).
  • The results of the firmware upgrade are saved in the CP032763.log file, located at the /var/cpq/ directory.
  • Network connectivity may stop during the firmware upgrade process and may need to be restarted after completion.
  • Installing the firmware rpm package (rpm -ivh) does not update the adapter firmware.  It merely extracts the rpm content to the local system. Updating the firmware on the adapter requires following the above outlined steps.
  • When downgrading firmware, reference Revision History and downgrade it to previous version as stepping down the ladder until the version needed.
  • AC Power Cycle is required after firmware installation for updates to take effect for the following network adapters:
    HPE Ethernet 1Gb 2-port 368FLR-MMT Adapter
    HPE Ethernet 10Gb 2-port 568FLR-MMSFP+ Adapter
    HPE Ethernet 10Gb 2-port 568FLR-MMT Adapter

End User License Agreements:

Installation Instructions
