This component updates the HPE Gen10 Innovation Engine Firmware for HPE Gen10 Servers

Prerequisites:

System ROM V1.26 or later

The "iLO 5 Channel Interface Driver” (CHIF) for Windows which is available from Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP).


To ensure the integrity of your download, HPE recommends verifying your results with the following SHA-256 Checksum values:

Reboot Requirement:
Reboot is required after installation for updates to take effect and hardware stability to be maintained.


Installation:

To update firmware from Windows operating system on target server:

1.     Place the Component in a temporary directory.
2.     From the same directory, run the Component by double-clicking it.
3.     When the Component dialog window displays, click the Install button to initiate the firmware upgrade.
4.     Reboot your system if you would like the update to take effect immediately.
 

Supplemental updates for supported ProLiant servers and options can be done by using the Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) ISO.

Option1:

  • Place the Service Pack for ProLiant on a USB key using the USB Key Creator Utility.
  • Place the desired components to be updated in the directory, \packages on the USB key.
  • Boot the server to the USB key to update the firmware and software in the usual manner.

Option 2:

  • Mount the SPP ISO
  • Copy the desired update component(s) in a temporary directory.
  • Start SUM and navigate to the Baseline Library panel.
  • Select Add from the Actions menu and add the mounted SPP.
  • Select Add from the Actions menu and add the temporary directory as an Additional Packages folder.
  • Select Create Custom from the Actions menu and create a custom SPP using both imported SPP and the Additional Packages.
  • Launch the remote console from the iLO on the managed server and mount the newly created custom SPP via Virtual Media.
  • Restart the server to boot to the SPP to perform the install.

Note that this mechanism can be scripted through iLO for performing updates to multiple servers.

1. Systems could experience a rare issue where processor and memory temperatures stop reporting, resulting in increased system fan speeds. This issue is seen during a system reboot and is only recovered by another system reset. This issue did not exist with previous versions of the Innovation Engine Firmware.

2. Systems configured with Jitter Smoothing support could experience a rare issue where on a given boot the functionality does not function. Resetting the system typically corrects the issue. This issue did not exist with previous versions of the Innovation Engine Firmware.

3. Systems configured with the Intel Xeon Scalable 6143 Gold and 8165 Platinum processors with HPE’s Core Boosting support enabled could experience a rare issue where on a given boot the functionality does not function. Resetting the system typically corrects the issue. This issue did not exist with previous versions of the Innovation Engine Firmware.

This is a new release of HPE Gen10 Innovation Engine (IE) Firmware revision 0.1.5.2 to replace IE version 0.1.4.4. If updating from IE version 0.1.4.4, follow the installation notes. If updating from an IE version prior to 0.1.4.4 please read the following note.
