Installation:

To update firmware from Windows operating system on target server:

  • Place the Smart Component in a temporary directory.
  • Double-click on the Smart Component.
  • Follow the directions given by the Smart Component.
  • Reboot your system if you would like the update to take effect immediately.

To use Smart Update Manager from the Service Pack for ProLiant:

  • Place the desired firmware to be updated in the directory, \<SPP root folder>\packages.
  • Run launch_sum.bat script which is found in the root folder of the SPP.
  • Follow the instructions on the screen.

Replacement version HPD8 resolves the following issues:

  • The issue affects SSDs with an HPE firmware version prior to HPD8 that results in SSD failure at 32,768 hours of operation (i.e., 3 years, 270 days 8 hours), neither the SSD nor the data can be recovered, after the SSD failure occurs.
  • In addition, SSDs which were put into service at the same time will likely fail nearly simultaneously.
