CAUTION: Updating the firmware of disk drives in a virtual disk risks the loss of data and causes the drives to be temporarily inaccessible.

IMPORTANT: When flashing disks behind HP MSA2000/P2000 controller running firmware version TS240, do not use the smart component.Use binary firmware from http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=12169&prodSeriesId=4118559&swItem=MTX-7f6e98e2e57a450a9ec096334b&prodNameId=4310834&swEnvOID=1005&swLang=8&taskId=135&mode=4&idx=0 and flash the disks using SMU or FTP.

IMPORTANT: Ensure that no other user is performing administrative functions on the P2000/MSA2000 storage system

IMPORTANT: Please refer to the release notes for special considerations regarding the pre-install conditions for flashing hard drives in P2000/MSA2000 configurations.

NOTE: Disk drive upgrades on the HP P2000/MSA2000 is an offline process. All host and array I/O must be stopped prior to the upgrade. For more information, see the HP P2000/MSA2000 Family Modular Storage Array reference guide.

Deliverable Name:
Firmware Flash Component for Windows - HP P2000/MSA2000 146GB,300GB 10K SAS SFF Hard Drive (DG0146BALVN and DG0300BALVP)

Release Version and/or Date:
      HPD4

Last Recommended or Critical Version:
      HPD3

Previous Version of Firmware:
      HPD3

Enhancements/New Features:

     None

Problems Fixed:

  • Addresses an issue that can result in premature failure due to the drive experiencing a ‘not ready' condition.

Known Issues:
     None

Failure Considerations:
  1. Single ported drive will not be flashed if the owner controller of that drive is not accessible through network.
  2. Drives will not be flashed if the drive is in a virtual disk which is being initialized, expanded, reconstructed, verified, or scrubbed.
  3. Flash operation on any pending disks will be aborted if the currently flashed drive is in LEFTOVR state or the virtual disk containing this disk is found to be in offline or critical state. If this does occur, the vdisk can be restored to online status by changing the drive status from leftover to available and then adding the drive to the vdisk as a spare. If a global spare drive was available, it will have been used to restore the vdisk to online status.

Supported Devices and Features:
Firmware on the listed drives can be updated when attached to any P2000 G3 or MSA2000 G2 array controller enclosure.

Upgrade Requirement:
Recommended - HPE recommends users update to this version at their earliest convenience.
