DESCRIPTION

On HPE ProLiant Gen7, HPE ProLiant Gen8, and HPE ProLiant Gen9 Servers, the fan speed may be higher than expected if no hard drive is present in the system.

This is working as designed.

DETAILS

HPE Integrated Lights-Out (iLO) and the System BIOS are designed to protect servers from overheating through fan speed modulation.

In cases where there are no disks present, iLO will increase fan speed in case this represents a condition where disk sensor input has been lost, but disks remain powered.

This is functioning normally and no action is needed.
