HP BladeSystem c7000 Enclosure - Resetting HP Bladesystem c7000 Enclosure

There has been a number of inquiries regarding how to reset a C7000 enclosure.

The solution depends on the context:

  • Cold reset (reboot) of the enclosure:

Disconnect and reconnect all power cables until there are no power cables attached, wait a few seconds, then reattach them.

Alternatively, detach the power cable or use the power on/off button on the relevant PDUs, UPSes, and other power distribution devices. The resulting power loss will affect all devices within the enclosure, including the servers, storage blades, and the interconnect devices.

This is the only way to reset the entire enclosure; there are no manual switch breakers on the C7000 itself.

  • Warm reset (reboot) of the enclosure:

It is not possible to warm reset the entire enclosure with one command or button, though it is possible to reset many the individual devices within the enclosure.

The Onboard Administrator (OA) has a reset button on the rear of the enclosure. It can also be reset through the OA Insight Display's Enclosure Information screen.

The servers can be reset through the OA or through the Integrated Lights-Out 2 (iLO 2). Refer to the respective guides for the interconnect devices regarding their respective reset procedures.

  • Reset to factory defaults:

The OA, which is the brain of the C7000, may occasionally need to have the settings reset to factory defaults for troubleshooting or maintenance purposes.

The operation can only be performed from the command line interface (CLI).

The command is SET FACTORY. Refer to the HP BladeSystem Onboard Administrator Command Line Interface User Guide for additional information. Refer to the individual devices guides for information to reset them to factory defaults, if applicable.
