HPE Command View Advanced Edition (CVAE) is vulnerable to local and remote access restriction bypass. The following CVAE products are vulnerable:

  • Device Manager (DevMgr)
  • Replication Manager (RepMgr)
  • Tiered Storage Manager (TSMgr)
  • Hitachi Global Link Manager (HGLM)
  • Automation Director (AutoDir)
  • Configuration Manager (CM)

Models Affected are: Software Version DevMgr (1) 8.4.0-00 to earlier than 8.6.0-00 TSMgr 8.5.1-00 to earlier than 8.6.0-00 RepMgr 8.5.1-00 to earlier than 8.6.0-00 HGLM 8.5.1-00 to earlier than 8.6.0-00 AutoDir 8.5.1-00 to earlier than 8.6.0-00 CM 8.5.1-00 to earlier than 8.6.1-00

  • Note: The Virtual Appliance of CVAE and Hitachi Infrastructure Analytics Advisor are provided the Open Virtualization Format Archive (OVA) file, and Oracle Linux is installed as a guest operating system.
    • The OpenSSL which is included as part of the Virtual Appliance is affected by vulnerabilities. For details, please see the section Upgrade of OSS in CVAE virtual appliance in the release notes for Configuration Manager version is 8.6.1-02 or later.

HPE has provided the following updates for CVAE to resolve the vulnerability. Upgrade to the version as described below or later version.

  • DevMgr 8.6.0-00 (See note)
  • TSMgr 8.6.0-00
  • RepMgr 8.6.0-00
  • HGLM 8.6.0-00
  • AutoDir 8.6.0-00
  • CM 8.6.1-00 (See note)

  • Note: From Device Manager 8.4.0-00 or later, Configuration Manager - that is REST API functionality - is also installed with Device Manager automatically. This vulnerability is fixed in Device Manager 8.6.0-00. But Device Manager 8.6.0-00 includes Configuration Manager 8.6.0-00. To fix this vulnerability:

    • upgrade Device Manager and Configuration Manager to the version 8.6.1-00 or later.
    • But, if Configuration Manager functionality is not necessary, uninstall Configuration Manager after upgrading Device Manager 8.6.0-00.
