Advisory: HPE OneView 3.00.X - After Expanding the Virtual Disk to Increase the Firmware Repository Size and Upgrading to OneView 3.00.X, the Extra Firmware Repository Space Will Not Be Available
NOTICE: The information in this document, including products and software versions, is current as of the Release Date. This document is subject to change without notice.

Release Date: 2016-12-08

Last Updated: 2016-12-08

DESCRIPTION

After expanding the virtual disk to increase the firmware repository size and upgrading to HPE OneView 3.00.X, the extra firmware repository space will not be available and the total amount of space will not be displayed after the upgrade at the bottom of the Firmware Bundles page:

Two possible reasons exist as to why the extra space may not be available and visible:

  • The virtual disk has not been increased to a size that is at least 275GB. When the virtual disk size is not at least 275GB (that is 275 * 1024 * 1024 * 1024, or 295279001600 bytes), the space will not be increased. Any space beyond 275GB will be wasted, so it is more efficient to increase the virtual disk to exactly 275GB.

  • OneView was not restarted after the upgrade. Although OneView restarts as part of the upgrade process, a second restart is required before the extra space will become visible.

SCOPE

Any HPE OneView appliance after expanding the virtual disk to increase the firmware repository size and upgrading to HPE OneView 3.00.X.

RESOLUTION

When the virtual disk is smaller than 275GB, to ensure 100GB of space is available for firmware and is displayed on the Firmware Bundles page, perform the following actions:

  1. Shut down OneView.
  2. Increase the size to 275GB. For information on how to increase the firmware repository size, refer to the

    HPE OneView 3.0 Installation Guide

    .
  3. Restart OneView manually for the space to become available.
NOTE: If OneView is not manually restarted after an upgrade, restarting a second time should make the extra space available.
