VULNERABILITY SUMMARY

Potential security vulnerabilities have been identified with HP Operations Agent. This also has an impact on the HP Operations Manager, where the HP Operations Agent is installed. The vulnerabilities could be exploited resulting in remote cross-site scripting (XSS).

BACKGROUND

HP Operations Manager functions in conjunction with HP Operations Agent. The Communications Broker facilitates communications between the two.

HP has made the following software updates available to resolve these vulnerabilities for all impacted versions of HP Operations Agent and Operations Manager.

** For verifying the version of the HP Operations Agent software components on the system, you can use the following HP Operations Agent command:

ovdeploy -inv

Without the above hotfix, the following configuration variable can be set on HP Operations Agent, to avoid this vulnerability being exploited over the network. Restart of the Agent processes is not required after the configuration change.

Note:For unsupported versions, including versions of HP Operations Agent v8.60.501 and below, setting the above configuration variable is the only workaround available.
