DESCRIPTION

When a ProLiant ML150 G6 server configuration is ordered and at a later date, a redundant fan kit (Option Kit 513927-B21) is ordered separately as a standalone kit, there is a potential for the redundant fan kit to be shipped with only one fan instead of two. Option Kit 513927-B21 should contain two fans to satisfy the redundant fan support requirements.

This issue only occurs on some Option Kits ordered after the server was shipped; servers that ship with the redundant configuration contain the required number of fans and are not affected by this issue.

The System BIOS will display a "fan not found" message if all 4 fan slots (31, 32, 33 and 34) are not populated in order for the ProLiant ML150 G6 to enable the redundant fan option. Fan locations exist as follows:

SCOPE

Some ProLiant ML150 G6 server configurations in which a redundant fan kit (Option Kit 513927-B21) is ordered separately as a standalone kit.

RESOLUTION

All 4 fan slots must be populated if fan redundancy is desired.

Option Kit 513927-B21 has been updated and kits shipped since December 2010 correctly contain two fans.

If two fans are not present in the Option Kit, contact HP Customer Support to obtain a second fan. Refer to this advisory and request that the support agent order Spares Kit 519737-001.
