Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Cluster - Upgrading HP StorageWorks 1000 Modular Smart Array (MSA1000) from Active/Passive to Active/Active

ISSUE:

A cluster with Active/Passive firmware on HP StorageWorks 1000 Modular Smart Array (MSA1000) needs an upgrade.

SOLUTION:
  1. Download the latest Active/Active firmware for MSA1000 from the HPeSC website, Download drivers and software. Click here to download "HP StorageWorks 1000 Modular Smart Array" .

  2. Download the latest version of the Multi-Path I/O (MPIO) Software (3.0) from the HP website, Download drivers and software. Click here to download "Other Multi-Path Software-Windows" .

  3. Obtain the HP StorageWorks 1000/1500 Modular Smart Array application note, Migrating to active/active controllers in Windows environments manual from the HPE website. Click here to download "HP StorageWorks 1000/1500 Modular Smart Array application note Migrating to active/active controllers in Windows environments" .

  4. Configure selective presentation, such that all LUNs are accessible from all cluster nodes.

  5. Review the SPOCK supported configuration. Click here to access HP StorageWorks SPOCK and if necessary perform other, configuration specific, required updates.

  6. Follow the instructions in Section 4, Migrating multi-path cluster systems of the previously mentioned manual.
