HP Integrity rx7620 Server - De-Configuration, Reconfiguration of CPUs in EFI


How do you de-configure or reconfigure CPUs on Cell-Based Integrity Servers in the EFI shell?


Complete the following steps:

  1. Reboot the server and halt the boot process at EFI. Go to the EFI Shell (built-in).

  2. Verify the configuration of the CPUs in the servers, as follows:

    Shell> cpuconfig


    Slot/ # of L3 L4 Family/
    CPU Logical Cache Cache Model Processor
    Cell Slot CPUs Speed Size Size (hex.) Rev State
    ---- ----- ------- -------- ------ ------ ------- — ------------
    1 0/1/0 1 1.5 GHz 6 MB None 1F/01 B1 Active
    1 0/1/2 1 1.5 GHz 6 MB None 1F/01 B1 Active

    NOTE: The info cpu command can also be used and will display the same information.
  3. Configure or de-configure the CPU, as follows:

    Shell> cpuconfig [cell] [module] [on|off]

    cell : Specifies which cell to use
    module : Specifies which cpu module to configure
    on|off : Specifies to configure or deconfigure a cpu module

    The CPU Module will be configured on next boot.

  4. Reset the partition, as follows:

    control b
    MP> cm
    MP:CM> rs

    This command resets the selected partition.

    WARNING: Execution of this command irrecoverably halts all system processing and I/O activity and restarts the selected partition.

    Select a partition number:

  5. Halt the boot process, to verify the CPU has been reconfigured/de-configured from the EFI shell, as follows:

    Shell> info cpu
