The HP NC360T PCI Express Dual Port Gigabit Server Adapter is a high-performance PCI Express (PCIe), dual-port, copper, Gigabit network solution for HP ProLiant Server customers who demand the latest in dual-port Gigabit Ethernet bandwidth and features. The HP NC360T PCI Express Dual Port Gigabit Server Adapter offers two ports on a single PCI Express adapter, enabling customers to save valuable I/O slots for other uses. The adapter is based on the high performance Intel 82571EB chipset and offers a 4 lane (x4) PCI Express bus.
Along with all the advanced features that HP ProLiant customers have come to expect, the HP NC360T PCI Express Dual Port Gigabit Server Adapter includes support for Wake-on-LAN (WOL) and pre-boot execution (PXE) environment. Additionally, it ships with support for Jumbo Frames, Network Fault Tolerance, Load Balancing, and various offload capabilities such as Segmentation Offload and Large Send Offload (LSO), which offer further network throughput improvements. The HP NC360T PCI Express Dual Port Gigabit Server Adapter is easy to install in either standard or low profile slots.

Performance
Gigabit Throughput Combined with Legacy Ethernet Support
A 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet transfer rate delivers outstanding network performance that improves response time and removes bottlenecks. Because the HP NC360T PCI Express Dual Port Gigabit Server Adapter supports both 10-Mbps Ethernet and 100-Mbps Fast Ethernet in addition to Gigabit Ethernet, users can count on having end-to-end protocol support across their enterprise.
PCI Express Interface
HP was an early champion of PCI Express bus technology and has played a key role in the development and industry adoption of the PCI Express specification. The HP NC360T PCI Express Dual Port Gigabit Server Adapter features a high performance Intel 82571EB chipset and offers a four lane (x4) PCI Express bus based on the PCIe v 1.0a standard, yielding faster transmissions with lower CPU utilization than earlier solutions.
Load Balancing
Transmit Load Balancing (TLB) and Switch-Assisted Load Balancing (SLB) are two advanced features that customers can use to build a bigger pipe for improved networking bandwidth. These port-bonding techniques enable users to install up to four HP NC360T PCI Express Dual Port Gigabit Server Adapters (for a total of eight ports) in an HP ProLiant Server, aggregating their throughput up to a theoretical maximum of 16 Gigabits per second full-duplex transmissions.
Jumbo Frames
Jumbo frames (also known as extended frames) offer a 9,000-byte maximum transmission unit (MTU), which is six times the size of traditional Ethernet frames. The HP NC360T PCI Express Dual Port Gigabit Server Adapter supports jumbo frames as a way to achieve higher throughput and better CPU utilization when deployed in a network infrastructure that supports them. Jumbo frames are particularly useful for database transfers and tape backups.
Offloading
The HP NC360T PCI Express Dual Port Gigabit Server Adapter can improve network performance by providing these offloading functions:
  • TCP Checksum Offload, which reduces the load on the CPU.
  • Large Send Offload (LSO) and TCP Segmentation Offload (TSO), which enables the TCP segmentation to be handled by the adapter; thereby saving host CPU cycles for enhanced performance when there are large amounts of data sent across the network.
  • Interrupt Moderation, which groups multiple packets, thereby reducing the number of interrupts sent to the host. This process optimizes host efficiency, leaving the CPU available for other duties.
Scalability and Reliability
Dual Ports
Two Gigabit ports enable users to save slots in situations where their servers are slot-constrained. HP has long been an advocate of dual-port adapters for servers. The HP NC360T PCI Express Dual Port Gigabit Server Adapter is the latest in our legacy of best-of-breed dual-port devices for HP ProLiant servers.
Network Fault Tolerance (NFT)
Network Fault Tolerance, sometimes called "failover" or "NIC Redundancy," enables the installation of multiple server adapters so that the active device can be backed up by a redundant adapter to improve availability. The HP Teaming utility also enables users to specify that when a failed adapter is fixed and replaced, the original adapter resumes its function as the primary network connection.

The HP NC360T PCI Express Dual Port Gigabit Server Adapter supports cable runs up to 100 meters (328 feet).
Network Management
Auto-Negotiation
The HP NC360T PCI Express Dual Port Gigabit Server Adapter automatically senses and configures itself to the speed of the device to which it is attached. It also automatically configures for half or full duplex, depending on the duplex mode of the switch, hub, or router at the other end of the cable.
Wake-on-LAN
The HP NC360T PCI Express Dual Port Gigabit Server Adapter provides Wake-on-LAN (WOL) support through the PCI Express bus. A system that supports WOL can remain available to a systems administrator during its normal downtime. Once the machine is awakened, the systems administrator can remotely control, audit, debug, or manage the machine.
Management Support
Similar to all HP ProLiant server adapters, the HP NC360T PCI Express Dual Port Gigabit Server Adapter ships with drivers and agents that can be managed from all versions of the HP Systems Insight Manager (HP SIM). Additionally, it supports any management application that support SNMP.
Server Integration
The SmartStart configuration utility includes setup support for the HP NC360T PCI Express Dual Port Gigabit Server Adapter, enabling the adapter to be configured as part of the SmartStart configuration process. HP SIM can recognize the HP NC360T PCI Express Dual Port Gigabit Server Adapter individually or in a port-bonded team, and HP SIM can collect and report SNMP statistics on the adapter events. Integrated Management Log (IML) support is provided by the HP NC360T PCI Express Dual Port Gigabit Server Adapter for critical event logging on HP ProLiant servers.
Configuration Utilities
Each HP NC360T PCI Express Dual Port Gigabit Server Adapter ships with a set of utilities that enable the user to:
  • Enable initial diagnostics within Microsoft Windows, Linux, Netware, and DOS operating systems.
  • Configure network adapter teaming in a Microsoft Windows environment. The Windows adapter teaming configuration utility includes a patented teaming GUI for the Microsoft Windows 2000 and 2003 Operating Systems. Support for scripted installations of teams in a Microsoft Windows environment allow for unattended operating system installations.
LED Indicators
Bracket LED indicators show link integrity, network activity, and speed on each port for easy troubleshooting.
