Any HPE ProLiant server or HPE Synergy Compute node running VMware ESXi 6.5 or VMware ESXi 6.7, and configured with any of the network adapters listed in the Scope section below with qfle3 driver version 1.0.77.2 (or earlier); may experience a Purple Screen of Death (PSOD) and network communication loss.

When this occurs, similar entries to the following can be found in the vmkernel.log file:

Any HPE ProLiant server or HPE Synergy Compute module running VMware ESXi 6.5 or VMware ESXi 6.7, and configured with any of the following network adapters with qfle3 driver version 1.0.77.2 (or prior):

RESOLUTION

For HPE Synergy Configurations

HPE Synergy configurations require a minimum version of HPE Synergy Composer Firmware 5.0 (or later) before installing or upgrading the NIC driver and Firmware to the below mentioned levels. Updated drivers and firmware for these Synergy Compute Modules must be obtained from the HPE Synergy Custom SPP 2019.03.20190826 (or later) to address the issue. HPE Synergy Custom SPP 2019.03.20190826 is available for download at the following URL:

For HPE ProLiant Servers

To fix this issue, download and install the qfle3 driver version 1.0.86.0, available at the following URLs:
