DESCRIPTION

On any of the HPE servers running VMware ESXi 6.0, VMware ESXi 6.5 or VMware ESXi 6.7 with Agentless Management Service (AMS) version 11.4.0 and listed in the Scope section below, updating a VMware system via VMware Update Manager may fail with an error indicating there is no room on /tmp to stage updates.

Note: Other applications that depend on available disk space in /tmp will also fail.

SCOPE

Any of the following HPE servers running VMware ESXi 6.0, VMware ESXi 6.5 or VMware ESXi 6.7 with Agentless Management Service (AMS) version 11.4.0:

RESOLUTION

To fix the issue, upgrade to VMware AMS to version 11.4.2 (included in the HPE ESXi Management Offline Bundle version 3.4.2), available at the following URL:

http://vibsdepot.hpe.com/hpe/may2019 .

Note: If the issue has already occurred, HPE recommends to perform the workaround below once before proceeding with the VMware AMS upgrade.

Workaround

As a workaround, periodically manually delete the "ams-bbUsg.txt" file in the /tmp directory of the VMware host to free up space.
