DESCRIPTION

IMPORTANT: This drive firmware is considered a critical fix and is required to address the issue detailed below. HPE strongly recommends immediate application of this critical fix. Neglecting to perform the required action could leave the server in an unstable condition, which could potentially result in sub-optimal server performance or data loss. By disregarding this notification and not performing the recommended resolution, the customer accepts the risk of incurring future related errors.

In rare instances, there is a potential data integrity risk for certain HPE servers when they are configured with specific HPE 7.2K (10TB/8TB) SATA or SAS Hard Disk Drive (HDD) models and firmware versions as listed in the Scope section below.

This potential issue was found in ongoing supplier reliability testing.
For more details, please refer to the drive firmware Release Notes for the version with this fix listed in the Resolution section.

SCOPE

Any of the HPE ProLiant or Apollo Servers listed under the Hardware Platforms Affected section, configured with the following drive models and using the drive firmware versions as listed below are potentially impacted:

RESOLUTION

HPE has released firmware versions HPG5 and HPD5, which help prevent the issue from ocurring and corrects the anomaly described above.

Upgrade all drive models on server models specified in the Scope section to the HDD firmware version as listed below:

This code corrects a potential data integrity issue related to unaligned write commands. This issue was found in supplier ongoing lab testing.
