On certain HPE ProLiant Gen10/Gen9 DL-Series and HPE Synergy Gen10 servers running Microsoft Windows Server Series OS or Linux RHEL/SLES Series OS and with certain HPE Ethernet Adapters installed, all PCIe functions except Function 0 report a Subsystem ID of 0x0000 in the configuration space (including related Virtual Functions), regardless of the value programmed in the NVM.

Different names for the device ports may be reported in the Device Manager as in the example below (both ports should be displayed with the same name):

a) PORT1 displays as "HPE Ethernet 2-port 562SFP+ Adapter"
b) PORT2 displays as "HPE Ethernet 562SFP+ Adapter" or "HPE 10/25Gb Ethernet Adapter"


In addition, different names for the device ports may be shown in the Device Manager in a guest OS:

a) Go to Device manager in a guest OS

b) PORT1 is displayed as an Intel adapter

c) PORT2 is displayed as a Network Controller

SCOPE

Any of the HPE ProLiant Gen10/Gen9 DL-series and Synergy Gen10 servers listed under "Hardware Platforms Affected", running Microsoft Windows Server Series OS or Linux RHEL/SLES Series OS, and the list in BIOS/RBSU with any of the following adapters installed:

  • HPE Ethernet 10Gb 562SFP+ Adapter
  • HPE Ethernet 10Gb 2-port 562FLR-SFP+ Adapter
  • HPE Synergy 4610C 10/25Gb Ethernet Adapter

RESOLUTION

There is no functional impact to the device or drivers. This may only impact the branding of the device if the Subsystem ID is used to select the device branding string.
