DESCRIPTION

On any HPE ProLiant Gen10 Server running Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 or Microsoft Windows Server 2016, and configured with any of the network adapters with HPE Intel i40eb Driver for Windows Server 2016/Windows Server 2012 R2 Version 1.6.104.0 listed in the Scope section below; when the firmware upgrade of the adapter is performed via Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) version 2017.10.1 or via the component Online Firmware Upgrade Utility on Windows 2016/2012R2, a Blue Screen of Death may be displayed if the instructions to immediately reboot the system are followed.

NOTE: This is a one-time symptom that may occur when when a firmware upgrade of the adapter is performed with i40eb driver version: 1.6.104.0.

SCOPE

Any HPE ProLiant Gen10 Server running Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 or Microsoft Windows Server 2016, and configured with any of the following network adapters with HPE Intel i40eb Driver for Windows Server 2016/Windows Server 2012 R2 Version 1.6.104.0:

  • HPE Ethernet 10Gb 2-port 568i Adapter
  • HPE Ethernet 1Gb 2-port 368i Adapter
  • HPE Ethernet 1Gb 4-port 369i Adapter
  • HPE Ethernet 1Gb 2-port 368FLR-MMT Adapter
  • HPE Ethernet 10Gb 2-port568FLR-MMT Adapter
  • HPE Ethernet 10Gb 2-port 568FLR-MMSFP+ Adapter

RESOLUTION

There is no impact on the firmware upgrade of the adapter, and the system will be recovered after the reboot.
