NOTICE: The information in this document, including products and software versions, is current as of the Release Date. This document is subject to change without notice.

Release Date: 2017-10-09

Last Updated: 2017-11-02

DESCRIPTION

If a firmware update job from the F10 key or from Always-On Intelligent Provisioning is interrupted, any or all of the following may occur:

  • The task may become unresponsive
  • The task may need to be manually cleared
  • Intelligent Provisioning may become unresponsive

This occurs due to an interruption of the download process during a key point between contact to the repository and the firmware update. The interrupt may be caused by a network issue during the firmware download, or by a user attempting to cancel the firmware update.

Note: Gen10 firmware requires a new format that is not compatible with Gen9 firmware. Therefore, attempting to add a URL to Gen9 firmware may also result in Intelligent Provisioning becoming unresponsive.

SCOPE

Any HPE Gen10 products with Intelligent Provisioning installed.

RESOLUTION

This will be corrected in a future version of HPE Intelligent Provisioning.

As a workaround until the update is available, if Intelligent Provisioning becomes unresponsive because of an interrupted firmware update, clear the RESTful API state using the following process.

From the iLO 5 CLI root, issue the “oemhp_clearRESTAPIstate” command.

OR

From a RIS client, post the ClearRestApiState action.

After clearing the RESTful API state, cold boot the server to rebuild the ROM and reinitialize the RESTful API.

This advisory will be updated when additional solutions become available.
