DESCRIPTION

  1. If deduplicated volume is mounted *optimized backup is performed on data.

  2. If deduplication on volume is disabled and volume still contains deduplicated data. Data that is still deduplicated will be read in *optimized way.

*Optimized backup; Backing up optimized data (not “rehydrated” - raw format).

DP does not support optimized backup/restore resulting in data corruption at restore.

SCOPE

This advisory provides information about data corruption at restore if backup on deduplicated data was performed.

Affected Versions:

Data Protector v7.03

Data Protector v8.0 and v8.01

Data Protector v8.1 and v8.11

RESOLUTION

To ensure that backup of Windows 2012 deduplication volumes is properly executed, request SSPNT700_037 for Data Protector 7.03, SSPNT800_010 for Data Protector 8.0 or SSPNT810_007 for Data Protector 8.1, from support and follow the instructions.
