DESCRIPTION

If Data Protector data path contains spaces then Data Protector v8.10 configuration may create a file named as Data Protector data path up till the first space occurrence.

Examples:
Data Path: “D:\Program Files\OmniBack\Config“
Created file: “D:\Program“

or

Data Path: “C:\Data Protector\OmniBack\Config\Server“
Created file: “C:\Data“

Existence of this created file “D:\Program” or some other file (file name depend on used Data Protector data path) causes Data Protector IDB (hpdp-idb) service failure.

SCOPE

This advisory provides information about how to install or upgrade product to Data Protector v8.00 and v8.10 without Data Protector IDB (hpdp-idb) service failure.

Affected Versions:

Data Protector v8.00
Data Protector v8.10

RESOLUTION

  • Before Data Protector installation or upgrade please ensure that file named as first part of Data Protector data path (up till the first space occurrence) doesn’t exist on system.
  • In case that file named as first part of Data Protector data path (up till the first space occurrence) is created during Data Protector installation or upgrade please rename it or remove it from system.

The problem will be fixed in the next major release of Data Protector.
