Bringing a volume online or offline
Volume is not in use and consuming resources on particular storage.
You want to keep volume intact so that no one can be able to access or edit it.
Virus has attacked the volume and you don't want to affect other volumes.
You can bring a volume online when you want to use the data that is stored in the volume.
IMPORTANT:
You can bring only HPE compliant volume online or offline using HPE StoreEasy management console.
Volume with icon
in the main Volumes page cannot be taken offline. You can use Windows to take the volume offline. However, it is possible to bring non HPE compliant volume online using HPE StoreEasy management console.
Bringing HPE compliant volume online/offline using HPE StoreEasy management console
Select Volumes from the left navigation menu.
Click the
button in Actions field of the respective volume.
Select Take Volume Offline or Bring Volume Online.
Take Volume Offline: Selecting this option will display Take Volume Offline window. Click Yes, I understand and then select Take Volume Offline option. Once the volume is taken offline, Volume name will be changed to its respective Volume ID and only Volume ID is visible in the Volume details page.
The following message is displayed beside the Volume ID property in Volumes listing page:The volume or its underlying sub-system has gone offline. Bring online to view the volume details.
Bring Volume Online: Selecting this option will bring volume online. When a volume is online, all its Volume properties are visible in Volume details page.
Bringing non HPE compliant volume online using HPE StoreEasy management console
Select Volumes from the left navigation menu.
Click the
button in Actions field of the respective volume.
Select Bring Volume Online.
Taking HPE non-compliant volume offline using Windows
Press Windows key+ R. Run window will appear.
Type diskmgmt.msc in Open text box.
Click OK. Disk management window will appear.
NOTE:To bring HPE non-compliant volume offline using Windows, you need to take its associated disk offline.
Select the volume then go to its associated disk, right-click and select Offline option.
