DESCRIPTION

HPE is providing notice that entitlement verification is no longer required for downloading product updates such as Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) and BIOS/ System ROM firmware for ProLiant Gen10 servers, Apollo Gen10 servers and future ProLiant and Apollo server generations. Existing entitlement validation requirements for all other HPE products remain in effect.

Current Gen10 and future server generations no longer require an active warranty or support agreement for downloading Gen10 SPP (2019.12.0 and later releases only) or System ROM firmware.

Gen9 and previous server generations continue to require an active warranty or support agreement for downloading the SPP/System ROM firmware.


Regardless of the generation downloaded, you must continue to abide by the terms of your contractual agreement or that of the "HPE Software License Agreement" when downloading and using HPE proprietary software updates.

What does this mean for SPP?

Starting with the 2019.12.0 SPP, two SPPs will be released: one covering Gen10 only products, and another covering both Gen9 and Gen10 products. Entitlement verification is no longer be required for the "Gen10 only" SPP versions, but is still required for the Gen9/Gen10 SPP versions.

Accessing Product Updates

Product updates are delivered via several access points. These access points will remove entitlement verification for product updates on Gen10 and future server generations. The list of affected access points include:

Notes on "Obtain Software:"

  • When displayed for Gen10 and newer server generations, you may download those SPPs using your HPE passport account.
  • When displayed for Gen9 and older server generations, you will need to have an active warranty or support agreement associated with your HPE Passport account to access the download.

Notes on "Downloads:"

  • When displayed for Gen 10 and newer server generations, System ROM firmware, you may download using your HPE Passport account.
  • When displayed for Gen9 and older server generations, System ROM firmware, you will need to login and additionally have an active warranty or support agreement associated with your HPE Passport account to access the download.
